How Often Should Weight Loss Measured?

People who are want to fatten or thin body usually often measure their weight. This is done to know there are changes or not. How often does one measure the weight?

In 2005, researchers from the University of Minnesota conduct a joint study of more than 3000 people who want to lose or maintain weight. The results obtained about 40 percent of the participants to measure their weight every day, about 20 percent measured once a week and 40 percent more often to check your weight.

This study was conducted over two years and reported that people who are too obsessive to the weight of his body was able to lose weight is greatest. But this can also trigger increased stress and depression for the person.

As quoted from Thatsfit, Thursday (20/05/2010) best time to measure the weight loss is in the morning after going to toilet, since the results obtained is the most accurate readings. While a good frequency to measure the weight loss should not every day, but enough once in a week.

If someone measure their weight once a week, then this condition is quite normal to see fluctuations (the rising and falling) body weight than if you see it every day. In addition it can also be a motivator optimal for that person. Since it is very important to obtain an accurate figure in determining the pattern of increase or decrease in body weight.

But if someone measure their weight every day, then tended to quickly under stress because it is not too found differences or changes in the amount of weight.

"The biggest reason for not measuring body weight every day because it can make a person has an unhealthy obsession with her body, triggering a person has an eating disorder," said Joe Shrand, a mental health expert and instructor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.

So if someone wants to lose or maintain weight, not necessarily to control every day. Because it can so it is not making you get your ideal weight, but instead trigger eating disorders like anorexia, bulimia or malnutrition.
