The use of meningitis vaccine is still a dilemma for people who want to perform hajj. But the Health Advisory Council and syara (MPKS) ensure that the final ingredient in the polysaccharide meningitis vaccine does not contain pork.
"The materials used to make the vaccine are polysaccharides. Based on the study we did, it was found that the end result is a polysaccharide did not contain anything," said Dr. H. Director General of Disease Control and Environmental Health (P2PL) health ministry Prof. Tjandra Yoga Aditama, SPP (K), MARS, DTM & H, DTCE tells the vaccine meningitis used Indonesia for prospective pilgrims with vaccine meningitis used to other countries such as Malaysia and also Saudi Arabia.
"Meningitis can be caused by himself why viruses or bacteria. Candidates should be given to pilgrims meningitis vaccine for fear of meningitis disease transmission from pilgrims of other countries including the meningitis belt that is still endemic in South African countries," said Minister of Health Dr Endang Rahayu Sedyaningsih, MPH, Dr.PH.
This year is estimated there are about 210 thousand pilgrims, because it was the availability of this vaccine is very important. Currently kemenkes already in the process of distribution of vaccines and are just waiting for it.
"Now there are two types of meningitis vaccine that exists in Indonesia and there is one more new sign up. But about halal or not wait for a decision from the MUI and is still in the process," said Prof. Tjandra.
