It's no secret that green tea has a very high antioxidant substances called catechins. The magical substance known to reduce the risk of cancer, including prostate cancer, gastrointestinal and breast cancer.

Some studies also indicate that the catechins can be overcome cancer esophagus (throat) but instead found the opposite bebaerapa other.

A study reported in the International Journal of Cancer, quoted from health24, Friday (7/24/2009) said something else.

Study involving 5400 adults in China who has throat cancer and who do not have the disease are given green tea regularly. But the results do not indicate a decreased risk of these peyakit.

It turns out upon investigation, the panelists provided drinking green tea in hot conditions. Based on these facts, the researchers sought to link between consumption of green tea in hot conditions with an increased risk of esophageal cancer (throat).

Researchers found those who drank hot tea has esophageal cancer risk three times greater than those who drink it in warm or cold. Those who drink hot tea in warm (not too hot) do not show signs of increased risk of esophageal cancer.

The existence of these studies confirm previous research in March 2009 which also investigated the relationship between hot tea and esophageal cancer. Research shows that those who drank tea as soon as stipulated (still hot), esophageal cancer risk greater than those who wait a few minutes, then drink it after a bit cold.

Until now there is no scientific explanation why the hot tea to increase esophageal cancer, but chances are hot coming into the throat continuously will damage the throat cells. Dr. Zhao Jinkou of Jiangsu Provincial Centre for Disease Control and Prevention in China also advise people to drink in warm, not too hot. Several other studies have even mentioned that the consumption of drinks / other hot foods (coffee, soup) increase the risk of esophageal cancer and stomach cancer.

While studies relating to the hot green tea is still observed, Zhao says that consumption of green tea in warm still provide health benefits for the body, including lowering cancer risk.
