Head of Research and Development at the Ministry of Health Agus Purwadianto argued that the development of herbal medicine in Indonesia is less developed because many doctors are less concerned.
"During this time the doctor is always 'win' of modern medicine. In fact, modern medicine does not always work well for curing a disease," he told reporters on the sidelines of a seminar on "Development and Utilization of Herbal Health" in Denpasar, on Saturday.
At a seminar held in conjunction with the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) of Bali Province, he pointed out that it is not easy to change the paradigms of the doctors who had been educated in Western medicine.
"Herbal far less rooted in the medical community, while at the other side of the community who wish to return to natural medicine, ie, with choices such as medicinal herbs," said the man who is also Chairman of the Honorary Board of Medical Ethics (MKEK) IDI center.
According to him, should herbs that have been inherited for generations in Indonesia society placed as the main component of health care in the medical community.
To further popularize the use of herbal medicine in the medical community, he said, the institute will provide training to the doctors about the herbal world.
"Building this system is not easy. Dream we are going to many schools of medicine which opens the program with a study of Eastern medicine. Herbal will have to be excellent in the treatment," he said.
About the efficacy of traditional nostrum, he said, are now widely performed by universities and research Kemenkes Office only develop or reworks these research results.
Meanwhile, hospitals in Indonesia which is currently open poly herbal already there are about 12 hospitals. He hoped that through the opening poly will be many experts and professors who studied the science of herbal medicine.
